Umar ALIYU was born on December 31, 1965 at Mayo-Belwa in Adamawa State - Nigeria. Having had his primary education between the first half of the 70’s and the late 70’s,Umar proceeded to Government Secondary School, Mayo-Belwa for his secondaryeducation between 1979 -1984. He went to the School of Nursing (now College ofNursing and Midwifery), Yola, Adamawa State - Nigeria where he trained as anurse. He had further education at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan – Nigeriawhere he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons) Nursing (Administration) in1997 and Master of Nursing Science (Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing) in 2008.He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma (Education) of the University of Maiduguri,Maiduguri - Nigeria in 2005. Umar is a Fellow of the West African College ofNursing. He worked with HSMB, Yola, University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital(UniMaTH), University of Maiduguri (Unimaid).In2009, he joined the National Hospital, Abuja - Nigeria as an Assistant Director and currently aDeputy Director and Head, Department of Nursing Services, National Hospital,Abuja - Nigeria. Umar is a member of NationalAssociation of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), several managementcommittees and author of many papers in national andinternational journals. He is a registered Nurse and licensed to practice by the Nursing andMidwifery Council of Nigeria (N&MCN) as Nurse Administrator and NurseEducator. He is a certified teacher with the Teachers Registration Council ofNigeria. He is married and blessed with children.
